The U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has released a report that determines whether pavement on highways is structurally adequate for superheavy loads (SHLs). SHLs, much larger in size and weight than standard trucks, may be in excess of a few million pounds, so they often require specialized trailers and components with nonstandard spacing between tires and axles. Specifically, this report describes the components of SUPERPACK, an analysis package for determining the impact of SHLs.
