ITSVA Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) provide a broad
range of technologies, which collectively can be used to solve many of our Commonwealth's
transportation problems. ITSVA works collectively with State, county and local governments to
make the best use of transportation technologies, and serves as a forum and network for its public
and private sector members to share information, ideas and experiences.

This annual event, which is complimentary to our members, is the perfect opportunity to visit with legislators in a more casual atmosphere to discuss the importance of technology in transportation. State Legislators, including members of the House and Senate Transportation & Finance committees as well as legislative aides and senior officials from VDOT, DMV, and other state agencies will also be in attendance.

A block of rooms has been reserved for the nights of Tuesday, April 27th and Wednesday, April 28th. In order to receive the special convention rate of $100/night, please call the OMNI directly at 1-800-THE-OMNI (1-800-843-6664) to make your reservations. Ask for the Intelligent Transportation Society of Virginia Room Block. The government per diem rate for Charlottesville (as of 1/1/10) is $112/night. With the per night tax of 11% at the OMNI, the rates at the OMNI come within government guidelines.
**The ITSVA Room Block will be available until Tuesday, April 6, 2010 or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.**
Transit ITS Information Exchange
The Transit ITS Information Exchange took place on Friday, October 30 from 10 AM – 12 Noon. Attendees were presented an overview of DRPT’s new Intelligent Transportation Systems Strategic Plan.
Michael Harris, DRPT Project Manager, provided a summary of the plan and review the ITS 6-year program.

ITSVA Wins ITS State Chapter Award
The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) has honored the Intelligent Transportation Society of Virginia with one of their prestigious ITS State Chapter Awards. Intelligent Transportation Society of Virginia (ITSVA) President Todd Kell accepted the Certificate of Excellence for Organizational and Professional Development during a special ceremony at ITS America’s 2009 Annual Meeting & Exposition held in National Harbor, Maryland.
